Following recent floods in parts of New South Wales, now declared a disaster zone, the ACNC is granting affected charities an automatic extension on their annual reporting deadlines.
A total of 23 Local Government Areas in NSW have been identified as being potentially impacted by the severe floods.
ACNC Commissioner Dr Gary Johns said it is an especially difficult time for charities operating in those areas.
“Our thoughts are with those in the flood-impacted regions of New South Wales. We know that charities operating there are bound to be experiencing great stress,” he said.
“The ACNC recognises that this disaster may impact on the ability of charities in affected areas to submit their 2021 Annual Information Statement by the due date.
“Extending the due date allows the ACNC to support charities by deferring reporting obligations so they can focus on the immediate need to recover from this natural disaster and serve the people who rely on them as best they can. We will work with any affected charity to provide whatever support possible.”
Charities in the affected postcodes with a reporting period that ends between January and April 2022, will automatically be granted an extension to 31 October 2022 to submit their 2021 AIS.
The postcodes for charities that have been automatically granted an extension are listed here.
