A charity which is wound up will cease to exist and will end all of its operations.
Winding up a charity is one option if you no longer want it to keep operating the way it is. However, winding up a charity is permanent, and cannot be reversed.
Revoking your charity registration with the ACNC doesn’t automatically wind up your charity. If your charity decides to wind up, you must ensure you follow your charity’s rules, as well as all legal requirements and obligations to other regulators during the process.
Some charities may have obligations to both the ACNC and other regulators. In some cases, if a charity is insolvent, it must be wound up.
