Remuneration is a term used by charities to describe payment made to Responsible People (board or committee members) for their duties.

Charities are allowed to remunerate board members, but the decision to do so rest with each charity and should be one considered very carefully.

If a charity is considering remuneration for board members, they must consider if doing so is in the best interests of the charity.

See our guide on remunerating charity board members and information about reporting the remuneration of key management personnel.
