This report examines Australian charities that are involved in activities outside Australia and is based on the data provided by 38,341 charities that submitted a 2013 Annual Information Statement (AIS) by 30 June 2014. It supplements and should be read in conjunction with the Curtin Australian Charities Report 2013.

Approximately 15% of all Australian charities (5,816 of the 38,341 charities in the dataset) report being involved overseas in some way. This involvement ranges from occasional donations of money or goods (for example, in response to a natural disaster), through to operating extensive and permanent on-the-ground services.
