Charities can use the following words when authorising an agent (like a lawyer or accountant) to submit a form or other document to the ACNC on their behalf.

The following people can sign the authorisation for your charity:

  • a Responsible Person – a member of your charity’s governing body, such as a board or committee member or trustee, or
  • an Authorised Person – someone who holds a position in the charity that gives them authority to sign (such as a chief executive officer, chief financial officer, company secretary or other member of the senior management team).

Provide a signed copy to your agent but you do not have to give the ACNC a copy of the declaration. However, your charity must keep a copy for seven years and provide it to us on request.
