The ACNC has today welcomed the appointment of six new ex officio members to the ACNC Advisory Board.

The appointments were announced by Assistant Minister for Charities, The Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP.

Ex officio members are appointed to the ACNC Advisory Board because they hold another specified office – an office as part of a state or territory government regulator that affects the charity and broader not-for-profit sector.

These members remain on the board as long as they hold the specified office, and will work alongside other Advisory Board members.

The ex officio appointments are:

  • Natasha Mann – Commissioner of Fair Trading and Deputy Secretary of Fair Trading and Regulatory Services Division in the Department of Customer Service, New South Wales
  • Amanda Nobbs-Carcuro – Executive Director, Industry Capability, Licensing and Migration, Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations, Northern Territory
  • Victoria Thompson – Deputy Director-General, Harm Prevention and Regulation, Department of Justice, Queensland
  • Robyn Pearce – Executive Director of Consumer, Building and Occupational Services, Department of Justice, Tasmania
  • Nicole Rich – Director of Consumer Affairs and Executive Director of Regulatory Services in the Department of Government Services, Victoria, and
  • Patricia Blake – Commissioner for Consumer Protection, Department of Energy, Mines, Industry, Regulation and Safety, Western Australia.

Brett Humphrey, South Australia’s Commissioner for Consumer and Business Services, will also maintain ex officio membership of the board.

ACNC Commissioner Sue Woodward AM welcomed the appointments, “The ACNC’s Advisory Board is vital in its role of providing sector-specific advice to the Commissioner,” she said.

“These appointments build on the collaborative approach we have already established with our state and territory colleagues on cross jurisdictional issues that affect the charity sector, and I look forward to working with them more closely through these appointments.”

ACNC Advisory Board chair Sarah Davies AM said the expertise of the new board members would be greatly appreciated.

“The board values the insights all its members provide,” she said. “Ex officio members help provide the board – and the ACNC Commissioner – with knowledge drawn from their many years with state and territory regulators, helping us all to continue to support a vibrant charity sector.”
