Charity regulators from eight nations have published a joint communique after meeting in England.
Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commissioner Sue Woodward AM took part in the three day meeting, held from 28-30 October, hosted by the Charity Commission of England and Wales.
Leaders and representatives of regulators from Australia, Canada, England and Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Singapore, as well as an observing United States representative, met to discuss matters of mutual interest and concern.
There were four key themes:
- Charity registration and charitable status
- Digital, technology and data
- Communication, education, public trust, and
- Compliance.
After the meeting the regulators issued a joint communique to affirm their shared understanding of the issues facing charities and their commitment to supporting charities to do their work.
