Are you interested in helping the ACNC better understand the charity sector and become a more effective regulator?
We are now calling for expressions of interest from people with relevant expertise to join our Sector Forum or our new Charity Consultation Panel.
At the ACNC, we are committed to effective stakeholder engagement. We believe that maintaining meaningful, professional working relationships with our stakeholders will enable us to achieve better outcomes for the sector and our regulation of it. This is set out in our Stakeholder Engagement Framework.
The Sector Forum is one of two key stakeholder forums through which we seek:
- A representative view from the charity sector and their intermediaries
- Feedback on key policy, guidance and tools the ACNC develops for the sector
- Insight into the issues faced by the sector.
Who
The Sector Forum comprises charities and peak bodies with charity membership. Members are expected to contribute to the discussion and provide their insights on matters of interest across the sector. Membership of the Sector Forum is capped at 30.
What’s involved
Members will be invited to participate Sector Forum for a two-year term, which can be extended by the ACNC.
Meetings will be scheduled twice per year.
Meetings will be held at the ACNC office in Melbourne and online. Additional meetings may be called or requests for comments or feedback may be sought via email on an as needs basis.
There is more information about the Sector Forum, including minutes, on our website.
Charity consultation panel
The ACNC seeks feedback from a broad range of charities outside the forums. We are establishing a panel of charities to provide feedback on an ad hoc basis on how changes to regulation or proposals for red tape reduction would impact the sector. Whether a charity participates in any individual consultation is optional.
Any charities that express an interest in, but are not asked to join, the Sector Forum will be placed on the consultation panel.
You can also opt to volunteer for the consultation panel only.
How
If you would like to be involved in either the Sector Forum or Charity Consultation Panel, please submit your expression of interest via our survey.
Applications close at 5pm (Sydney/Melbourne time) Friday 14 January 2022.
