The ACNC welcomes the Government’s response to the ACNC Legislation Review released today.
The review report, Strengthening for Purpose: Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Legislation Review 2018, made 30 recommendations, which centred on the ACNC’s objects, functions and powers, the overall regulatory framework, and red tape reduction for charities. In its response, the Government responded to all 30 recommendations.
The ACNC Commissioner, the Hon Dr Gary Johns, welcomed the Government’s comprehensive response to the recommendations.
“We look forward to working with Government and the sector to implement the recommendations, with the goal of strengthening charity regulation,” Dr Johns said.
“This is a great opportunity to build on and refine the regulatory foundation we have established over the last seven years.”
The report is available to download from the Treasury website.
