Did you know our comprehensive data shows Australia’s charity sector employs more than 10 per cent of the workforce and generates revenue in the hundreds of billions of dollars each year? You’ll find a wealth of information about the sector by exploring various resources available via our Charity Data Hub.
We collect data submitted by 60,000 registered charities in their Annual Information Statements. We recognise that data is valuable to policy makers, researchers, the media and those who run charities.
We share key data and insights each year in the Australian Charities Report. The report maps the sector’s size and scope and illustrates charities’ contribution to the economy and to local and overseas communities. It helps us appreciate the significant contribution registered charities make and supports better decision making for those who donate their time and money.
With each edition of the report, we publish an accompanying Charity Data Explorer. It allows you to drill down into the national and overall figures for a range of indicators of the sector’s contribution to Australia’s community and economy, such as volunteer numbers in each state, the amount of money donated to charities, revenue, assets and more. We also publish comprehensive data sets on data.gov.au.
You can find links to all of these resources, as well as ACNC reports and annual reports, in the Charity Data Hub.
