The latest episode of the ACNC’s podcast, Charity Chat, is a discussion about charities engaging with vulnerable people when fundraising.
In the episode, Assistant Commissioner David Locke explains how people may be considered vulnerable when faced with a charity fundraiser, and suggests ways that charity fundraisers should interact with vulnerable people respectfully.
David also highlights the importance of ensuring charity fundraisers are properly trained and aware of the signs of vulnerability and capable of interacting appropriately before beginning a fundraising campaign. He emphasises that responsibility for fair and respectful fundraising techniques is not limited to the individuals on the front line – it extends across an entire charity, with ultimate responsibility held by a charity’s board.
For anyone involved in or interested in charity fundraising, this is an important episode to catch.
