In December 2017, the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters announced that it would conduct a review of political donations as part of its broader inquiry into the 2016 election. The Committee will also examine the Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Bill 2017.
On 25 January 2018, the ACNC made a submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, in relation to the proposed Bill, commonly referred to in the media as the Foreign Donations Bill.

More than 140 submissions were received and public hearings are underway. The Committee is set to provide a report by Friday 2 March.
