In March 2018, the ACNC registered 249 charities. The newly registered charities undertake wide-ranging work reflecting the breadth of the Australian charity sector. Included in the mix of new charities are organisations that advance social welfare, culture and education, as well as religious organisations.
The majority of newly registered charities are based in New South Wales (81), followed by Victoria (64), Queensland (44) and Western Australia (33), with the remainder based in other states and territories.
