On 8 May 2018, the Federal Treasurer, the Hon Scott Morrison MP delivered the 2018-19 Budget.

The ACNC received a budget for the completion of the core business of charity regulation.

In addition, the ACNC also received $2.038 million to implement reforms to the administration and oversight of organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, as announced by the Minister for Revenue and Financial Services, the Hon Kelly O'Dwyer MP, in December 2017. Further to the DGR project, the ACNC received $666,000 in funding to introduce external conduct standards.

More information about the DGR reform project is available on the Treasury website.

Ahead of the 2018 Federal Budget, the ACNC informed the Government that we were not appropriately resourced for litigation should issues arise in the course of charity regulation.

The Government allocated an additional $1 million to the ACNC for litigation for the 2018-19 financial year.

The ACNC is now properly resourced, should it be necessary to clarify any questions of charity law or regulation through appeals.
